GTINManager

GTINManager makes it is easy to add new items, edit existing items, create relationships between items, and select items to send to the data pool (1Sync).  Once the product data has been sent to the data pool for registration, the data pool has identifying information about the user’s products stored in a centralized data repository that is now accessible to retailers of the user’s choosing.

Sharing product data with GTINManager and 1SYNC

Create Profile in GTINManager

The first thing you need to do is create a profile.

  • GLN: The Global Location Number assigned by the data pool. This is a 13-digit number that represents your organization in the GDSN.
  • Company Name: The name of the company.
  • User ID and Password on Data Pool. Do you want to use Hardline Attributes? This is if you are in the Hardline vertical industry and want to trade data with your retailers specific to this industry.
  • Do you want to use FMCG Attributes?  This is if you you are in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods vertical industry and want to trade data with your retailers specific to this industry.

Add New Items
You can add your supplier products to GTINManager manually or by importing CSV files. GTINManager conforms to the GS1 sanctioned GDSN data used to share product data.  Each product will need mandatory attribute fields along with optional attributes.  Some mandatory fields required for all products:

  • GTIN: A 14-digit ID that identifies each product registered at the data pool.
  • GLN: The GLN that “owns” this product. This defaults to your GLN (entered in Profile Maintenance) and can not be changed.
  • Target Market Country Code: The market to which this product is being sent. Choose a target market from the list by clicking the down arrow.
  • Target Market Sub-division: This field will update based on your target market selection. Choose the appropriate sub-division from the list.
  • Classification Category Code/Name: From the list, select the classification category into which your product is grouped and pick a specific classification category name within the code.

  • Trade Item Hierarchy Level: This attribute will allow you to indicate the packaging of your product, such as a case, a pallet, an each, and so forth. If you want to send more than one package configuration to the data pool, you will need to set up each one separately with its own GTIN.
  • Is Trade Item an Orderable Unit?/Is Trade Item a Consumer Unit?: If your product has only one packaging structure, then it is both an orderable unit and a consumer unit or you might have a product that is sold by the individual unit, but ordered by the case.
  • Effective Date / Publication Date / Start Availability Date: These dates will control when your product is made available to your retailers.
  • Measurement Value Attributes: Any attributes representing a measurement value, such as Net Weight, Storage Temperature, Catalogue Price, and so forth, will also require a Unit of Measure.

Create Relationships Between Products

GTINManager allows you to define relationships between the products that you enter. This relationship is called “linear” or a “contains” relationship where one product contains another product, which then contains another.

For example, a pallet contains cases, and the cases contain units. This relationship is  a “Parent/Child relationship”, where the pallet is the parent and the case is the child in one relationship, and in another, the case is the parent and the unit is the child.

You can register a case containing items, with its GTIN to identify it, and also the individual item with its own GTIN. GTINManager will allow you to “relate” these packages together to show a pallet contains cases, and cases contain eaches.

Send Products to 1SYNC data pool

Once you have entered product data into GTINManager and created relationships between products as appropriate, you can send this data to the data pool for “registration”. This means that identifying information about your products will be stored in a centralized data repository that will then be accessible to retailers of your choosing.

Get Status Email From GTINManager

The data pool then processes the information that GTINManager has sent it and sends you an e-mail containing details about your action if it was successful or if there are warnings or errors.

Add Retailers To Receive Products
You can add retailers to GTINManager either before or after you register your products with the data pool but you must add retailers before you can publish products to them. In this step, you are indicating all of the retailers to which you plan to publish any of your products. These retailers must also be participants in the data pool.

Publish Products

When you publish a product to your retailers, GTINManager sends a message to the data pool.  The data pool verifies that you are a valid user and if so, it accepts the message and you see a message in GTINManager indicating that your items have been sent.  The data pool then processes the information and sends you an e-mail containing details about your data such as warnings for non-existent retailers or non-existent items, an indication of successful processing, and so forth.
