SET UP - RFIDTagManager Setup Wizard
![]() |
RFIDTagManager for DoD has the DoD requirements pre-built into the software that willl be used to populate DoD compliant labels printed for your products. Select the DoD RFID-enabled facilities that you ship to and the product shipping scenarios that effect you, according to the latest DoD RFID regulations. Potential shipping scenarios are broken down into two buckets: case scenarios and pallet scenarios.
|
You can select a label template from the RFIDTagManager label library which has DoD Case and Pallet RFID Labels for all printers or import custom labels designed by popular label creation software. You need to enter a ship from location which often is warehouse or distribution center, or a manufacturing plant where products are tagged on the assembly line. Now you are ready to enter the products that require RFID tags which can be done manually, importing a CSV file or importing product data through GTINManager. |
|
The DoD has different guidelines for different items shipped. Some items require UID part encoding which use the CAGE/NCAGE Number and some items require shipping labels, which can be encoded with EPC Manager Numbers. RFIDTagManager asks for the EPC Manager Number or CAGE code.
SET UP – Set Up WAWF Connections
![]() |
The WAWF Connections Wizard guides you through setting up a Secure FTP site that meets the DoD requirements for sending a UDF Receiving Report. You will need to enter the FTP information fields as well Payment Options and Inspect and Acceptance Points. The remaining fields include the CAGE codes and DoDAAC Activity Codes to identifying the DoD entities or Contractor information that may apply to your contract. - The Prime Contractor, Administration, Inspect By, Ship From, Payment Office, Local Processing Office, 3rd Party Other Office, Issue By Codes.

Most suppliers implement RFID in phases. Many find it is useful to start off manually printing RFID labels while they learn the technology and what it can do for them or because the volume of products requiring RFID tags is initially too small to justify expensive custom integration. Moving forward as their RFID initiative expands they are able to understand the best way to direct their integration efforts.

Print Manually or From Imported Orders
Orders can also be manually entered by entering all the required fields in the pick slip or imported in a CSV file which is sent directly to the printer so labels can be printed automatically.
To insure each tag is unique and EPC compliant RFIDTagManager generates tags for each case or pallet that conform to DoD specs that are based on SGTIN’s serialized CAGE/NCAGE Numbering. When tags are generated they are stored in the database and each successive tag of each case and pallet will increase sequentially.
RUN - Tag Validation & Verification
Now that the tag has been created, using an RFID reader to read the tag will ensure that each RFID tag is valid before it leaves the tagging facility. If you ship unreadable labels to DoD, they are going to be returned.
RFIDTagManager Validation Screen gives users an easy tool to validate tags.

RUN - WAWF
Create Wide Area Work Flow UDF Receiving Report
|
|
Select an order in the Validation Screen to prepare the electronic documents that comply with the DoD’s Paperless Electronic Document Access. Current RFID DFARS regulations require all DoD vendors who are sending tagged shipments to also send an Advance Shipment Notice (ASN) via WAWF. The ASN is the Material Inspection Receiving Report (MIRR) transaction being sent to WAWF with the RFID tag ID added to it.
The Wizard Guides through filing out the fields to send a UDF Receiving Report by secure ftp. Screens will take you through The Prime Contractor, Administration, Inspect By, Ship From, Payment Office, Local Processing Office, 3rd Party Other Office, Issue By Codes. After the Mark For Delivery Comments screen you will go to the Line Item Screen. |
|
UID is a DoD program to uniquely identify each tangible item throughout the DoD supply chain by encoding required items with a Unique Item Identifier. The latest DFARS Contract Clause requires certain items to contain RFID encoding as well as the 2-D Matrix. RFIDTagManager guides you through adding UID items to the Receiving Report. To make it easier to manage UID’s epcSolutions has teamed up with a2b Tracking Solutions to enable RFIDTagManager to import UID data from UID Comply! industry leading UID lifecycle management system software. The UID’s will appear in the ASN Wizard and will be associated with the contract and RFID shipment information. |
